Planning for Your Tattoo

I’m the type of person who has to plan everything out. So when it came to getting my first tattoo, I had decided on an image and where I wanted it weeks prior to even making the appointment. That’s just the nature of my personality. Most people, however, tend to rush into getting a tattoo. Sometimes this works out and sometimes it doesn’t. But by failing to plan in advance, you are more likely to be disappointed and looking for laser tattoo removal sometime in your future.

There are many aspects of the tattoo to plan. All of them are very important elements of getting a tattoo. Some of the elements you can plan simultaneously while others follow logical steps. For instance you need to choose a design, decide on the size, and choose a location on your body to put it. The other aspect that you must plan for is where you plan on getting the tattoo done and by whom.

You should always go to a reputable and license tattoo shop and I highly recommend going to one that is close to your home or is easy for you to travel to. The reason I recommend this to people is because depending on what design you choose, and also on the skills of the artist, you may have to return for multiple appointments. So you can see how difficult this may be if you were to get your tattoo done hours from where you live.

Once you have a couple shops in mind, you can usually visit a shop’s website to review the tattoo art work of any tattoo artists that work there. Almost all tattoo shops either have their own webpage or at least a Facebook page. This gives you the opportunity to really study the artists work. Most the time you can review a digital portfolio for each artist employed there. There is likely to be one artist or more that you prefer over others. Something about their technique or style appeals to you.

So before you get that tattoo, do some homework. Know the design you want and choose a respected tattoo shop and you’ll have a better chance of being satisfied with your body art.
